Important: Do not manually copy a file to your BIOS folder. If files aren't automatically copying, that means you have incorrect files. Please follow the guide below.
In order to emulate some systems, BIOS files are needed due to increasing complexity of the hardware and software of modern gaming consoles. If the core you are currently trying to use needs a BIOS file, OpenEmu will alert you with a popup message. Before installing a BIOS file, make sure that its associated core plugin is installed and the MD5 hash is correct, or it will not work! Installing a BIOS is as simple as adding a game to OpenEmu, just drag-and-drop a BIOS onto your library!
You can check the hash of your file by opening Terminal.app, typing
md5 /path/to/file
and pressing Enter. Instead of typing the file path in manually, you can just drag the file onto the Terminal window.Required BIOS Files for Cores

Important: Dumps of syscard3.pce containing a 512-byte copier header are considered 'bad' and will not import. If you have the version with the MD5 hash ff1a674273fe3540ccef576376407d1d , run the following command in Terminal to convert it to the 'good' version:dd bs=512 skip=1 if=syscard3.pce of=syscard3fix.pce |
SNES Chip Dumps for Higan
Many SNES games came with additional coprocessor chips on their cartridge, so the dependencies are per-game. A full list of games that require them can be found here.
I just simply use the syscard3.pce bios and like I said before I have them patched to bypass the bios screen anyways. Googer 2016-08-30 16:58:58 UTC #8 I owned a TurboGrafx-16 with CD add-on, and later on got the Super CD card so I could play Super CD games on it (actually I still do; it’s just not hooked up at this point in time) so I know. If a system is not listed in the chart above, it does not require a BIOS in order to function properly.
